The PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group β Mindanao Field Unit (AKG MFU) conducted a Community Security Awareness on Kidnapping-for-Ransom (KFR) and Distribution of IEC Materials on February 6, 2026, at the Covered Court of Buenavista Integrated School, Curuan District, Zamboanga City.
Led by PLT HAMIDHAN B. TEBBENG, Chief Admin/IEFLS MFU, under the supervision of PBGEN GLICERIO C CANSILAO, Director, AKG, the symposium was attended by teachers and students from Grades 7 to 12.
Topics discussed included:
β’Kidnapping-for-Ransom (KFR) Awareness and the mandate of the AKG in Mindanao
β’βBarkada Kita: A Unified Crime Prevention Advocacyβ, emphasizing education as a key tool in preventing crime
β’Drug Abuse Prevention, highlighting its harmful effects on the youth, families, and communities
β’Active Shooter Awareness, stressing preparedness against threats that may occur anytime and anywhere
IEC materials were distributed, containing anti-KFR awareness, safety tips, information on RA 8353 (Anti-Rape Law of 1997), and the AKG hotline number.
The activity concluded with positive feedback and strengthened awareness among participants, reinforcing the importance of vigilance, education, and community cooperation in crime prevention.
