The Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) engaged with representatives from the Embassy of Japan on June 26, 2026, at the AKG Conference Room, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City, aimed at further enhancing bilateral cooperation, strengthening institutional partnerships, and advancing shared security interests between the Philippines and Japan.

The meeting was spearheaded by PBGEN EDWIN C BALLES, Acting Director, AKG, together with PCOL ALVIN R CONSOLACION, Deputy Director for Administration (DDA); PCOL RENATO C MERCADO, Deputy Director for Operations (DDO); PCOL JEFF E FANGED, Chief of Staff (CS); and the AKG Division Chiefs. The discussions focused on emerging security challenges, evolving crime trends, and strategic approaches to strengthening cooperation in the prevention and suppression of kidnapping, organized criminality, and other transnational crimes.

In line the AKG 5-Point Operational Thrusts of PBGEN BALLES, particularly on strengthening synergy with partner agencies and stakeholders, both parties emphasized the importance of sustained engagement, enhanced information sharing, and deeper collaboration in addressing evolving and increasingly complex security challenges. The discussions underscored the value of robust institutional linkages, mutual trust, and coordinated initiatives in advancing public safety, enhancing law enforcement effectiveness, and fostering regional peace, security, and stability. This engagement underscores the continuing commitment of the AKG to fostering strategic partnerships with key stakeholders at both the domestic and international levels in support of peace, security, and public safety.
