Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City β The Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP AKG), in coordination with the Police Regional Office 8 ( PRO8 ) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), successfully appreahended three (3) suspects implicated in the abduction and killing of a former Vice Mayor of Abuyog, Leyte and his son.
The case stemmed from a reported abduction incident on June 27, 2026, in Mayorga, Leyte, which subsequently led to the tragic deaths of the victims. Their lifeless bodies were later discovered dumped in a ravine in Barangay Imelda, Silago, Southern Leyte.
On June 30, 2026, at about 10:15 PM, the suspects known as βMar,β 30 years old, a businessman; βKit,β 27 years old, a college student; and βRen,β 24 years old, all residents of Basey, Samar, voluntarily surrendered to the personnel of the AKG, CIDG and PRO 8, through the assistance and intervention of their families.
Following their surrender, the suspects were brought to the Pasay City Police Station for proper documentation and recording of their voluntary submission to authorities. Thereafter, they were transferred to PNP AKG for temporary custody and underwent physical examination at the PNP Forensic Group, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City prior to their turnover to PRO 8 for appropriate disposition and further legal proceedings.
While in custody at PNP AKG Headquarters, suspects decided, knowingly and willfully, to execute their individual extra judicial confession duly assisted by counsel of their own choice and in the presence of their respective family members.
On July 2, 2026, in the morning, two counts of kidnapping with homicide were filed by the Mayorga Police Station, with the assistance of the Anti-Kidnapping Group Visayas Field Unit (AKG VFU), before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor, Abuyog, Leyte Sub-office, through inquest proceedings against the three suspects.
