Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City – The Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group, through its Mindanao Field Unit (MFU), successfully arrested a suspect involved in Kidnapping for Ransom case during hot pursuit operations at about 1:26 AM of January 14, 2026, at the residence of the suspect in Maguing, Lanao del Sur.
The operation was carried out by the MFU-Illigan Satellite Office (MFU-ISO), in coordination with Lanao del Sur Police Intelligence Unit (LDS PIU), and the 55th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army. The arrest stemmed from the escape and subsequent recovery of kidnapped victim a.k.a. Nur, which prompted an immediate hot pursuit against individuals involved in the kidnapping. The arrested suspect ABDULLAH MANALAO MANDANGAN also known as Hadji Abdullah Manalao Mangondao, 72 years old, farmer, served as one of the guards while the victim was being held for four (4) days.
As a background, a formal complaint by the family of the victim was logged on January 9, 2026 at the PNP AKG Headquarters in Zamboanga City. AKG MFU immediately activated its Anti-Kidnapping Action Team (AKAT) to handle the case.
Investigation disclosed that the kidnappers used the cellphone of the victim and demanded a ransom amounting to PhP3,000,000.00. Another call was made by the kidnappers on January 8, 2026, reiterating their demand. On January 13, 2026, the kidnapped victim managed to escape and was successfully recovered by the authorities in Barangay Dilimbayan, Maguing, Lanao del Sur.
