Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City – The Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP AKG), successfully rescued an Indian national victim and arrested two suspects in connection with a kidnapping for ransom incident.
The victim, who is a businessman, was safely recovered on February 12, 2026, following sustained negotiations, intelligence monitoring, and operational efforts by AKG operating units.
a.k.a. Guru, 45 years old, also an Indian national, was arrested on February 13, 2026, along Taytay, Rizal. Subsequently, a.k.a. Guru’s live-in partner, Imee Verdadero y Isip, 45 years old, Filipina, was likewise arrested on February 14, 2026 at the AKG Headquarters in Camp Crame for her alleged involvement in the same case.
Investigation revealed that both suspects actively participated in the ransom-related transactions and other acts that facilitated the commission and concealment of the crime. Inquest proceedings was conducted on February 15, 2026, formally charging the respondents for Kidnapping for Ransom and Serious Illegal Detention under Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code docketed under DOJ NPS No. XVI-INQ-26B-00012.
