Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City β The Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP AKG), successfully arrested the No. 10 AKG Most Wanted Person, during a joint law enforcement operation conducted on March 14, 2026, at about 8:50 PM in Calauan, Laguna.
The arrested suspect was identified as Rommel Brillantes Santos, 27 years old, Filipino, male, single, and a resident of Barangay Dayap, Calauan, Laguna.
The arrest was carried out through joint operations between the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group β Luzon Field Unit (AKG LFU) and the Calauan Municipal Police Station in implementation of COPLAN βZOMBIES.β
During the operation, the law enforcement operatives served two (2) Warrants of Arrest against the accused: First warrant was issued by Hon. Desiree Gertrude G. Orquiola-Moldez, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 163, Taguig City, for the crime of Kidnapping for Ransom and Serious Illegal Detention with Serious Physical Injuries under Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended, docketed under Criminal Case No. 10205, with no bail recommended; and another warrant was issued by Hon. Mariam Guzon Bien, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 153, Taguig City, for the crime of Kidnapping for Ransom with Homicide under Article
267 in relation to Article 249 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended, docketed under Criminal Case No. 10204, likewise with no bail recommended.
As a background, the arrested suspect was responsible for the kidnapping of a minor and subsequent killing of his driver, which transpired on February 20, 2025, at about 2:50 PM along C5 Bridge southbound in front of Market! Market! Mall, Taguig City. Investigation revealed that Brillantes severed one of the fingers of the minor victim during the incident.
