Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City – The Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP AKG), through its Luzon Field Unit (LFU), arrested a wanted person in connection with a kidnapping for ransom case at approximately 5:30 PM on July 20, 2026, at the AKG-LFU Office, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City.

The arrested individual was identified as Gabriel Calimlim Esguerra a.k.a. “Gab.” The arrest was affected by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest (WOA) issued by Hon. Mario Pocholo Maceda Telan, Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court, Fourth Judicial Region, Branch 142, Antipolo City, Rizal, for Violation of Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code (Kidnapping for Ransom) under Criminal Case No. 26-91596, with no bail recommended.

As a background, Esguerra is one of the accused in the kidnapping of an Indian national, which occurred on February 8, 2026, in Ridgemont Executive Village, Taytay, Rizal. Prior to the arrest, legal counsel for the accused coordinated with the AKG-LFU regarding the status of the case and informed authorities of her client’s intention to voluntarily surrender in view of the outstanding Warrant of Arrest.

On July 20, 2026, Esguerra voluntarily appeared at the AKG-LFU Office accompanied by his legal counsel. After verifying the validity of the warrant, AKG personnel immediately placed him under arrest.

Following his arrest, arrested suspect is temporarily detained at the AKG Detention Facility, pending the issuance of a Commitment Order by the issuing court.
